2024 Squamish Days Loggers Sports Association Forestry Education Scholarship

Posted on Jun 24 2024

Summary:

Squamish Days is awarding one $2,000 scholarship to help support and invest in the future of forestry education. Many of our volunteers, sponsors, competitors, and attendees are directly or indirectly connected to the forest industry and recognize its importance to the province of British Columbia. As thanks for the support received throughout the 67 years of our community festival and to encourage those pursuing a post-secondary education or training for jobs in the industry, we want to give back and ensure that the future of forestry is bright.

Eligibility:

Must be a resident of the Sea to Sky Corridor (Lions Bay to Mount Currie)

Must provide proof of enrolment in a forestry/natural resource program or a training program related to pursuing a career in the forest industry. The program or training must be in B.C.

How to Apply:

Please, submit a one-page essay (approximately 500 – 700 words) answering the question: ‘What does the forest industry mean to you and why is it important to the province of British Columbia?’

If applicable, describe your family’s involvement in the industry and any forestry related experience to date.

Submit your essay by email, to celebrate [at] squamishdays.ca by July 22nd, 2024.

Selection Process:

All essays will be reviewed, and the winner selected by a panel of volunteers. Applicant names will be removed during the selection process.

The scholarship recipient will be recognized at the 67th Squamish Days Loggers Sports Festival.
