SAM is back! |
| Posted on Jul 14 2008 |
SAM (Squamish Axe Man) is back at his summer home, the Squamish Adventure Centre.
SAM was originally created by local artist Nick Tattersfield for the movie "Are We There Yet" that was filmed partly in Britannia Beach during 2004 (approximate date). In 2006, SAM was donated to the Squamish Days Loggers Sports Association and a contest was held prior to the 2006 Squamish Days Festival to "Name the Squamish Lumberjack". The Squamish Saxe Man - SAM for short - was given his name by long time Squamish resident Ernest Weiss.

Thanks to the Squamish Sustainability Corporation, the Squamish Adventure Centre, Channel Fabricating, Cardinal Concrete, and West Coast Lumberjack Shows, SAM has found a home at the Adventure Centre where he is a favourite of Squamish visitors and residents alike, and is constantly having his picture taken with his many fans and friends.
While you're visiting SAM, stop into the Adventure Centre to learn more about Squamish and all there is to do here.
